Lets talk about makeup!

Although I wouldn't categorize myself as a "girly-girl" so to speak, I do love fashion, makeup, home decor etc. I don't wear a huge amount of makeup on a daily basis, I am usually an eye liner/mascara/berts-bees kinda gal with an occasional spot of cover up when needed.
Although I don't wear it often, I love to have all the necessities in my make-up bag. It is always fun to play dress up and feel pretty with a full face of makeup! I am in the process of switching over to Bobbi Brown products. I used to be strictly Laura Mercier but decided to switch it up! Here are some things that I am loving right now

One of the reasons I love Bobbi products is because I can wear makeup without actually looking like I have a ton of makeup on. The natural look is what I go for.  It's also nice to have makeup that is easy to use. When this mama is in a hurry and on the go, it's nice to have easy to use products so I still have time for a little makeup!
I like to go high end on foundations, cover ups, bronzers and blushes. These are things I don't substitute with drug store products because I really feel like paying a little extra makes a difference. Like I said before, I also don't go full on glam every day so these products last me a while.
Mascara is one thing that I am learning is better to spend a little more on. I was a tried and true every day lash gal until recently. This stuff is like 5$ max people and I loved it. I recently tried Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye mascara and I don't know if I can return!
Products like shadows, eye liners and my classic berts bees chapstick I just purchase at our local drug store or of course my fav Target.
I just recently started to dabble into lip color so I don't know much in the way of that yet! I have a Clinque Chubby Stick that I like to use right now!

Those are my picks! Is there anything that is an absolute go-to for you? I'm always up for trying something new so share away!

10 Months!

Ah Tuesday evening. It's usually Tuesday, mid-day, that I finally start to feel awake (only with the help of B's espresso maker) after working an overnight on the weekends! This week has been a stay-at-home week so far. Monday was MLK day so B was able to hang with G while I got some zzz's.
They spent lots of time playing in her new play house!
We spent the rest of Monday menu planning and grocery shopping.

On the menu this week:
Monday: Order out night.
Tuesday: Southwest chicken tacos and roasted sweet potatoes
Wednesday: Grilled sirloin and smashed potatoes
Thursday: Chicken and feta over mixed greens and mushroom risotto
Friday: Pepper crusted pork tenderloin and roasted brussels sprouts

Today I was in weekend-house-recovery mode and lots of dishes and laundry ensued! (So fun, right!?) It is seriously frigid here so we may just hibernate all week long!
I think G may feel differently ;)

Wasn't this supposed to be a post about how G is 10 months today? Whoops! Let's get to it.

I can hardly believe you are 10 months old today baby girl. That sounds SO much older than 9. You will be 1 before we know it. I better get party planning, huh?
Sweet girl, your daddy and I adore you. It is hard to put into words how incredibly blessed we feel by you everyday. Our hearts are SO full. It is a thrill to be your parents and watch you grow smarter, bigger and more beautiful every single day!
Ten months and already reading! ;)
At 10 months you:

  • Are still nursing. You have a hard time sitting still these days so our nursing days may be numbered. You would rather explore, I hardly blame you :) We haven't had to supplement yet but I'm often pumping and chasing you around to finish a bottle.
  • You love your solids! You are eating three meals a day. Breakfast is usually yogurt. I am making your baby food, so for lunch we usually do a few "ice cubes" of fruit and some cheese. For dinner you have mixed veggies and whatever else we can get you to eat, this is our struggle meal right now.
  • Your favorite snack is cheerios, although puffs come in a close second.
  • We haven't ventured into the meat territory yet, I think once you cut a few more teeth we'll try some different kinds.
  • You are a champ at going to bed these days! You usually settle right in. We are still working on sleeping through the night ;). You are usually up once between 2 and 4 but teething is throwing a wrench in the mix. You'll get there!
  • You are taking two naps these days. One around nap around 10 for 1.5 hours and an afternoon nap around 2 for about an hour. Bedtime is at 7! We have a routine all set in place to help you settle in for the night. Bath, lotion, pj's, books, nurse, bed!
You have two bottom teeth right now but I can see those top four JUST about to cut through. It is causing you to be extra cuddly. No complaints here! We purchased the amber teething necklace but haven't been consistent enough with it to see results.
  • You are ON THE MOVE little lady. You crawl, climb, cruise and play all day. You'll be walking before we know it. Daddy and I better watch out!
  • One of my favorite things about you is your little voice. You love saying "aww" when you hug your stuffed animals. You also say hi, baba, dada, mama, papa and other various sounds. I could listen to you laugh all day long, it just melts my mama heart! I throw in some extra belly tickles to hear it sometimes :)
  • You are waving hi and bye-bye, you throw your arms in the air for so big, give high-fives, and you clap away. We are working on blowing kisses!
  • You love sunday dinners with my side of the fam.

  • G you are the happiest of happy little girls. It is rare that we don't see you with a huge grin on your face. You are easy going and happy to just hang with your mama and daddy.
  • You "fake cough" to get our attention and also have picked up on "fake laughing"! You will give a little "ha" to get our attention and it cracks us right up!
  • You love when we chat on our phones. I think when you hear the ringing you assume I'm calling Daddy because you get so excited and say "dada!"
You are our blondey babe all the way with the most beautiful bright blue eyes. You get those from your Dad ;).
I am assuming you are about 19 pounds at this point but I will know for sure when we go to the doctor next month.
You are a long baby girl. I'll update your length after your appointment.
You are in 12-18 months clothes only for the length! You have legs for days. Lucky lady! You wear size 3 shoes and size 3 diapers!

G, you are the most wonderful gift and we love you more than we could have ever imagined possible! Thank you sweet girl for making me a mama. I now have an ounce of the understanding of the love that the Lord has for us all. I can't wait to watch your personality grow and develop every more then it already has. I love you beyond measure Grace Margaret. Happy 10 months!

Five on Friday!

I am linking up with Darci and the other ladies for a Five on Friday post! This is my first link up so I'm not even sure I am doing it right! Check out their blogs and link up yourself for some Friday fun ;).

1. My Grandparents are down in warm and sunny Florida for most of the winter. They sent us a box of the most wonderful oranges for Christmas. They weren't able to be shipped right away so we just received them this week and boy were they worth the wait. These are some of the most delicious oranges I've ever had! It helps us stick to our new year diet resolutions when you can snack on something like this! I may or may not have had 4 when they first arrived :).
2. We had friends over for dinner last night. Sometimes it can be hard with a little one to get the house in shape, get the daily dishes and laundry done, errands etc. and prepare to have friends over that night for a meal but I am always so glad that I did with these guys! The Moran's have a little boy the same age as Grace and it is so much fun to watch them play together. It's also fun to catch up and have some time for fellowship with such wonderful people. It's nice when you find friends who are at such a similar place in their lives as we. Love you Steve and Lindsay! We're blessed by your friendship.
If you follow me on Insta you may have seen these pictures already, bare with me :)

3. The Farnham family gave Grace a beautiful wall decal from Shanna Murray Illustrated Decals for Christmas this year and I just LOVE it. I purchased the frame and the matting this week to add this beauty to Grace's nursery. I couldn't be more excited to put this sweet addition together!
4. My Mom (a elementary school teacher) made a photo book "Grace's Faces" for G this week. It has pictures of all of her family members, near and far. (Dogs included!) Grace is LOVING this book and checking out all of her favorite peeps. I love it too because it's helping her to learn to put names and  faces together! Thanks Lulu!

5. Lastly, something I am loving EVERY week nowadays. When G was first born, I went back to work, working 3 night shifts. Shortly after I switched to working 4 evening shifts a week. (I work as a RN at a local Children's Hospital.) A few months ago I switched (yet again!) to something called weekend track. I wont bore you with the details but basically it means I get to be a SAHM during the week and enjoy SO much more time with my girl. A SAHM during the week and a worker bee on the weekends! I love this schedule, it really works for our family right now.

We are off to get an oil change in B's car and to visit the newest member of the Kyea family today, sweet baby Robert! I'm excited to see how big G looks next to a newborn! She still feels so small to me but I'm sure that will change today!
Thanks for tuning in for Five on Friday! Enjoy your weekend :)

First Post!

Hi Everyone!

This is my first blog post EVER! I am so excited to be starting this new adventure. I've wanted to start a blog for some time now. For the past year or so I have been reading along with (eh hem, stalking) some other mama blogs, near and far. I have treasured the stories they have shared and the things I have learned from them. This past year has been HUGE for our family of three (more about us later) and having similar situations to read about has been amazing. Blogs can serve as such a time capsule, and that is exactly what I hope to create here at Everyday Allen. I hope to look back someday when our kiddo(s) are grown and read through all of our memories.
Lets start with what you can expect from this blog, nothing fancy, that's for sure! I hope for this to be a day to day picture (photo dump!) of my wonderful life with the hubs and our sweet baby girl. It will also have a bit of attempted weekly recipes,  DIY fun (or half finished Pinterest projects as the hubs would say), menu planning, and marriage and mama adventures. I love Jesus, Family, Cooking, Fashion and Interior Decorating.  Our life in a nut shell, I hope you'll stick around!
